The Random Friday Five!!

June 2, 2017

Normally, about this time I'm all - "Hooray! It's Friday!" {Happy Dance!}

Right about now, however, I'm more - "Thank God this week is finally almost over."

"Saturday, you're my only hope."

"Don't let a girl down."

"Gee, the rug in my office looks kind of comfy. Maybe if I curl up in a ball on it, no one will notice me for a while."

But, I will try to summon some excitement and energy for you this afternoon. I do love ya bunches!! I'll try to summon a little of the whimsy from the fun Friday pic I chose for this blog. It's so cute, isn't it?

If you take one much beloved 93-year-old grandma who's in rehab for a stroke, add in one stepmom in her final days and in hospice care, and mix that with a heaping helping of ear infection/summer cold/fever, and then frost that cake with a book that's due out in a month or two that you aren't getting much work done on, you have my current life. Stick a fork in me. I'm done.

I swear I'm not whining. (Okay, maybe I'm whining just a little.) I'm just telling you where I am. (Please come find me and also bring coffee.)

Anyway, let's jump into this Friday randomness. That is sure to bring a smile to our faces, and your smiles always make me smile. Smiles are good.

1. Do you remember the last time I RFF'd (Random Friday Five-ed) I told you about the new planner I'd ordered. I also briefly mentioned my extreme planner addiction. But that's another post for another time. By the way, if you or anyone you know has ever heard of some kind of twelve-step program for planners, I may or may not be interested in said program. Anyway, I got my Plum Planner and ... I'm hesitant to even type this but ... I think I may be in love! I won't know for sure for a couple of weeks but I think this planner and I are going to get along very, very well. Yay!

2. I have confessed to you many times that I am a shameless book sniffer. I love the way books smell! Don't judge. It's a thing. My youngest son does it too, so I'm not that weird. Or possibly he gets his weirdness from me. Moving on - this planner smells good! That alone makes it better than the one (or ten) that came before it. I'm so excited.

3. I actually have a question for you all. It's an important question. This week, with all of its complete insanity, makes me wonder - Which books do you read over and over again when things get a little too tough in the real world? For me, I always reach for - Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (whom I love and adore and if I ever get the chance to meet her my reaction will probably result in a restraining order), Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond (whom I have met and managed to keep my composure whilst gushing about how much I love her), and Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy (I may or may not have met one of these ladies and if I did meet her she was super cool). So, tell me yours!

4. I've been taking a few writing classes over the last month. I've learned a ton and can't wait to actually be able to work so I can put the practices into action. I signed up for another class next month and decided to not only download all of the notes but also to print them. See, I thought if I printed them I could take them with me from hospital rehab to hospice and back again (over and over and over again.) Only problem with my plan - I failed to check just how many printed pages all of the notes would be. So, an entire ream of paper later, I'm fretting about the environmental impact I've had and Mr. Neal is wondering exactly how much printer ink I've gone through. Note to self - next time check the page count!

5. In every spare moment I've had I have tried to squeeze in work on Natalie Camden's novel. Something wasn't quite right with her hero, Aaron Weber. I had to dig deep (as we authors often have to do.) Finally, I found him! Dark, devastatingly sexy, badass, and desperate for redemption he's quite certain he doesn't deserve. Ah yes, there's my favorite kind of hero. And Aaron is going to fit the bill so very nicely. I cannot wait to write more!!

All right, that brings us to the end of this blog, of this week (Thank you, Jesus!), of my coffee, of this Kleenex box, and possibly of my remaining sanity. Hopefully, next week will give us all some peace. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
